2 Simple Ways For Better Web-Reading

0
September 30, 2009

How many important pages you did miss on the web? You’re not really satisfied with some crowded web pages that don’t let you read that good? how to solve fonts size and the ugly ones in this case?. Apparently, these problems are forcing users to take some bad ways to get rid of this problems. You may write down the link using pen and paper, you may save it in the notepad or you may bookmark it, another ways? Delicious? Wholy Crap! No, Delicious is not for saving these things.

Two easy and clean ways to perform such things, lets talk about each one.

Instapaper: This is really great web app! I call it Delicious-like. Through a Bookmarklet, you can save any page in single click. Then you can read your list (things you Instapapered) mange them, create folders, delete, edit, print and etc. You can use the bookmarklet in any browser, it doesn’t matter which one you run. *Instapaper available also as iPhone app

Readability: It’s the sexiest bookmarklet ever! When you want to read a crowded web pages with advertisements, logos, ugly contents and small fonts you will spend extra time to just track the lines, this BM help you to clear everything and it will show you a single white and clean page of the text only (with post images if available).

I think you liked these bookmarklets! Don’t tell I already know :) Good Luck.

Our Digital Life, Some Worries!

2
September 25, 2009

Yesterday, a short outage occurred to Google mail (Gmail), users from around the world started to feel bad about the continuous outages of Gmail. I don’t want to say why because I know the importance of Google apps especially Gmail to everybody, Thousands of universities, blogs, newspapers and other important parties are connected with Gmail. Maybe as a normal user I may not get any problem because of this, but another parties will be affected by these problems.

What happened yesterday remind me of the worst problem in case loosing my Gmail account! I can’t really imagine this. My blogs, 40+ web services I’m connected with, 250+ contacts,  university and my training academy! Oh God, that’s really bad. I don’t want to imagine this or even to think that it’s possible and it could happen one day.

And as I don’t wish this to happen to me, also I wish you all to be safe and away of any problem like this. But unfortunately, wishes are not really working in such cases! therefore and to avoid losing any data, do one of these steps (as you like):

1. Contacts: I think the only way to sync your contacts from Gmail and to save them is to create a new email address – Not on Gmail – and lets say Yahoo! then perform a weekly synchronization for your contacts from Gmail to Yahoo. this will be really helpful.

2. Desktop: Run a POP3/IMAP desktop app like Mozilla Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook, Yahoo! Zembra or any other desktop app. The reason behind using a desktop app is to get a full access to your Gmail (Contacts, Messages folders, and etc) although the problem itself. That’s because POP3 and IMAP are “under level” Protocols which means you will be able to pass your emails from and to your Gmail without having any problem, because only HTTP protocol will be affected by Gmail problem.

If you know any other ways such a web service or any app, Do not be stingy! share it please. Let’s wish the best luck to Sergey Brin and Larry Page :)

Arab TV Channels, The Same Bullshits!

5
September 18, 2009

Girl: Hello, who’s this?
Caller: I’m Mahmoud from Mansoura, Egypt.
Girl: Welcome Medo, how are you Honey? You wanna win $100,000?
Caller (Deceiver) : Yes ya moon, I wanna win enshallah, but I want you to help me please!
Girl: Sure Medo, I’ll help you as much as I can, come on, what’s your answer?
The dancer girl, music (Silly), laughing without no reason, bla bla bla.
Caller: My answer is “Bat”!

Girl (Temptingly): Oh my God Medo, the closest answer but unfortunately it’s wrong, Sorry Medo! Don’t worry and don’t give up, you should call me again, I’m waiting your voice!! I  – I thought she was near to say :”Hard luck Medo, But don’t miss the opening of our night club! -

Me (Loudly): “Bat”? FUCK YOU BOTH, Stupid!

Actually this is what really happened while I was sorting some tv channels, I saw this channel and it was really silly, pointless, shameless, stupid. I think they rented this girl from a night club! Add to that, they also rented some FAKE callers to make it real. I listened to 5 callers and I swear, they were FAKE, 100% FAKE.

I don’t really know what to say or how to describe this, this really silly.. Man,  bullshits, stupidity! you know? This is really shame.

Quick Tech Updates and Notes

2
September 11, 2009

Since a week and until this moment, a lot of tech updates and news has been announced, Fortunately, all of theme were really nice. Here are a few updates and news that made me happy.

Facebook: Facebook has launched the lite version with a great interface. I think this version will help us to browse FB effectively on our mobile devices especially Symbian platform, iPhone users will not love it that much because they already have a Facebook application installed.

Twitter: Twitter changed it’s Terms of Service and opened the door for advertisers. Actually it’s really a very good step forward to make more money using twitter, in a sense, all of you guys (Biz Stone, Evan Williams, Jack Dorsey) will earn a lot of money, Congrats :) But it will cost a lot!

WordPress: Three days ago Wordpress released RSSCloud plugin for wordpress.com and self-hosted blogs. It’s a great plugin for wordpress blogs that makes sending and receiving RSS feeds faster than before. In the normal case, our blogs takes almost an hour to push new posts to RSS feed receiver, this delay will not make any sense for personal blogs but what about Tech blogs such as Mshabale and TechCrunch? both of them and the others are really in a big news challenge, they are working to publish everything as fast as possible to get more readers and commentators which means, more advertisements and quick fame. By the way I’m running it now :)

FriendFeed: “Facebook Acquires FriendFeed” this story has been announced 32 days ago, but nothing happened so far, no changes and no more news about any future plans. Is is the silence that comes before the storm? Actually nobody knows anything about whats going on behind the scenes

Firefox: New update from v3.5.2 to v3.5.3

Google: A bigger search bar and buttons for Google Search! Looks ugly but still cool.

Apple (Steve Jobs): I’ve watched more than 60 videos and saw more than 1,000 picture for Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs, he was wearing in 97% of them a black t-shirt, blue jeans and while-big shoe! He is really awesome, clever and absolutely funny, he knows how and when to speak! But I wonder, why he keep wearing the same colors all time? have you noticed that?

My Blog Theme: P2 By Automattic, Why?

8
September 9, 2009

A little update: Now my blog is running “Darwin theme.” I’d continue using it for development purpose. Wait the final version to be published enshallah

Actually I’m a little picky blogger who loves to change his blog theme frequently! this is really not because I don’t like any theme but because of the large number of “stunning” WordPress themes that I can’t wait to use then modify them.

This theme is very similar to twitter system or at least “twitter-like” theme, and I loved it because it’s really powerful, elegant and clean. This theme gives the reader a great abilities to use the blog and the following list contains a few features of P2 theme:

  • Real-time blogging: You don’t need to refresh the page to check for new posts or comments, because posts and comments will appear immediately.-Similar to FriendFeed more than twitter- (Pretty damn cool feature, so sexy!)
  • I can write/edit any post/comment directly form the homepage.
  • You can read the comments directly from the homepage without entering each post, and you can hide them all as well.
  • You can write your reply to any post directly from the homepage and you can edit it as well.
  • You can write your reply to any comment directly from the homepage.
  • To sort your blog posts we use “Categories” to perform this operation, but with P2 theme you will have another way of sorting which is “Labels”.

Mainly, this theme is for Tech-Personal and Personal blogging. The first one is my type and I’m really happy with this theme because it gave me a stunning interface to feel better and to write more and more of Tech post.

Special Paragraph: I said above “This theme is very similar to twitter system or at least -twitter-like- theme” I just wanna explain how this theme is very similar to twitter.

Lately, WordPress themes are really featured more than ever and now when I say a WordPress theme, I don’t really means a regular one with .css file and excellent color layouts! now a WordPress theme is a well designed and a complete system with a lot of features that gives benefits for blogger and reader, both of them are really should get a good set of features.

P2 performs these task by adding “Shortcuts” to your WordPress theme! You wanna try them out? well, use your keyboard to see:

  • Hit “o” to show/hide comments.
  • Hit “r” to reply to a post or a comment by passing mouse cursor over the object that you want to write a reply to.

While reading a single post (Entering the post is required), use the following shortcuts:

  • Hit “j” to see the next comment/post (passing the mouse cursor is required).
  • Hit “k” to see the previous comment/post (passing the mouse cursor is required).
  • Hit “t” to go to the top of the page.
  • As an “Author” I can use these shortcuts with another one which is composing a new blog post by hitting “c”.

Finally, I’ll be happy to read your comments about this theme, if you have any suggestions or objections please feel free to write them for me.

Microsoft Hostility and Racism Against Syria and Sudan!

8
September 6, 2009

The following points are from Microsoft Imagine Cup, 2010, Poland rules and regulations!

  • You are not a resident of any of the following countries: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria.
  • PLEASE NOTE: U.S. export regulations prohibit the export of goods and services to Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Syria. Therefore residents of these countries / regions are not eligible to participate.

Actually I don’t really know why Microsoft don’t want Syrians and Sudanese to participate in Microsoft Imagine Cup which will be held in Poland in 2010! This is really means that Microsoft is not a independent company and they doesn’t encourage students (especially) to use their imagination and they also following U.S. regulations and rules even in this world wide competition!

Actually this is not a competition, it’s such a black racism and hostility against people all they want is to participate and to show their skills. Microsoft, this is really tough and bad, it’s completely disgusting.

    Khede Kasra, Women Empowerment Campaign

    2
    September 5, 2009

In Arabic language, A word only can’t express that well! so that, they use “Kasra (a.k.a كَسرة): Arabic symbol determines how to pronounce a particular word” represented by a small and italic bar symbol under the letter that determines the intent of the word if it’s meaning refer to a man or a woman! if it refers to women they should use this symbol, but if not, they should use another symbol which it’s “Ftha (a.k.a فتحَة): Also an Arabic symbol determines how to pronounce a word represented by a small and italic bar above a particular letter, this symbol can make the meaning of the word refer to a woman.

The elections, streets, telecommunication companies, books, brochures and perhaps more than 80% of advertisements are uses words that refer to men like انتخب، صوتك، اضغط، ادخل، ادفع، اسحب and thousands of words without putting “Kasra” under the letters that makes these words refers to women!

Khede Kasra is really a great campaign targeted to empower the role of women in the Arab world started in Lebanon as a local campaign, but now it’s a wide, famous and large campaign. Personally, I loved the idea and I think they should spread it throughout the Arab world to make it so real.

Dear Mr. Obama, Please Stop Islam!

    1
    September 5, 2009

I don’t wanna write any word about this video! Just give yourself a few minutes to read comments and the article.

    httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9V1lV85YtTM

    Comments by Non-Arab users:

    RareGold99

So I suggest you you wipe off your fake tears (as a mom I know fake tears), read the Quran, all of it, not bits and pieces, you might learn something, it is available online to read, I tried posting you a link but post didn’t go through, so google it, read it, and go to the nearest Mosque/Masjid and ask a whole lot of questions, may Allah guide you. (Allah is the name for God, used in the Arabic Bible as well, carried no gender, and it can not be made plural, TC buddy and watch the language plz

    RareGold99

First of all I would like ot say I am an American and I accepted Islam full heartedly, and you are right Islam is spreading very fast, so don’t you wonder what is bring people like me to Islam, I think you need to read the Quran and not only 9:5, read 9:1-7 and see it speaks of people that were persicuting the Muslims.
2- Obama’s dad died when he was little and he was raised by his mother who is a christian, Mr.Obama has a paster called Steven Anderson, check him out. post #2 coming up

holocoost.. is the one i can see in Iraq by non muslim army… holocaust is the one i can see in Gaza during the jews invasion.. holocost is the one i can see when i saw thousands of children and women died in afghanistan, iraq, palestine… this is the holocost i have seen

A great response to this video written by: Umm Hadiqah

As-salaamu ‘Alaikum wa Rahmatu Allahi wa Barakatuh. Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Raheem:
Alhamdulillah for an increase in Sabr. I watched this monologue full of misguided ignorance and didn’t even budge outside of my peace.

If someone says they are Muslim, I take their word for it in spite of their actions…we all go through the ups and downs in Imaan. But, did Barak Hussein Obama ever say he was Muslim? Not that I know of…in fact, he claims Christianity. And why would he hide it, as suggested by so many Muslims and non-Muslims alike? Not all Arabs are Muslim, and not all Muslims have Arabic names. In spite of what some of you may know or like to admit: Arabicacizing (my new word, lol) your name or life doesn’t make you Muslim. In fact, Arabic names are popular, for instance, in the African diaspora whether one is Muslim or not (yes, I know, Obama is named after his Muslim father).
What do you say to people who have this attitude? It’s ignorance through and through! He admitted that he "skimmed through the Qur’an." Why not read (the English interpretation of the meaning of) the Qur’an from cover to cover? Afraid you might catch yourself in a lie? It’s better to catch the lie and find out the truth with the chance to believe, than to die in the disbelief, no? Suhana Allah Rabbil’Alamin…Allah Subhana wa ta’ala guides who He wills.
Are we Muslims not doing a good enough job and propagating the correct message and image of the Perfect Religion? Or are people just that lost? Perhaps there’s a middle ground that can be reached: We Muslims should strive better to explain the truth about Islam, and you who disbelieve can open up your minds, if but for a moment. Insha’Allah
    JazakaAllahu khairum.
As-salaamu ‘Alaikum wa Rahmatu Allahi wa Barakatuh
