When i was a Windows user, there was no way to protect my folders using a password, the only way was to hide your folder items or to hide the folder itself. Actually I never liked this way on windows! the most popular software was FolderLock but it’s also working under hiding.
Our app today is LameSecure which is totally free, this app helps you to set/install a password for your folder so when you/someone want to open it, it asks to enter a password of that folder.
Just open it, select the folder and set your password. Trying to open the folder will not open the app. When running the app, if you wanted to change the password of a certain protected folder, you will not be able to remove or change the password unless you entered the old one.
I was searching for reviews of this app and i found a user comment on Softpedia, read it:
how do you un lock a folder.. there does not seem to be an option
It’s wrong! Unlock or removing the password already available in this app, browse the folder and choose “Remove” that’s all
Another question from a user on CreativeBits:
I forgot my password for the fold that i secured using lamesecure..how can I retrieve this password?
Well, I think you have a problem with Vitamin B12, so eat fruits and drink orange juice. This is the only way to fix this.
To me, it’s a perfect app and this is what I’ve been looking for. Found it so helpful, simple and powerful. Hope you like it all but if not feel free to suggest another app or ask anything.

Sorry, but can you explain one thing to me?
Why would you want to password protect your folders from yourself?

@Qwaider: I said in the title protect “Your” so I’m not the only one. People: who use public computers, how want to protects personal or important data from another users or people who may try to get this data. Add to that family computers, I may have personal stuff that i don’t want other to see. To me it’s a general purpose, I may give it someday to my friend to use it but I have personal things…etc
Lots of uses and benefits. What about you?

The idea here is that these passwords are kind-of awkward. The logical/secure way to do it is to have a password for your account. Then create separate accounts for other users, even in a family shared computer. This way each family member can customize their computer/desktop ..etc as they like. All while protecting their documents from everyone else.
Password protecting a folder while allowing everything else to run on your computer is not a good idea. Someone determined to break into your files, might install password logger, or just try a brute force type of attack to unlock the files.
Anyway, I just wanted to understand the rationale behind it
thanks for explaining
